The MTBF is supporting the introduction of Information Technology (IT) systems for budgetary management in federal line ministries.
The Project for Improvement in Financial Reporting and Auditing (PIFRA) in the department of Auditor
General provides IT support for the preparation and execution of the federal budget.
Under Phase II of the MTBF reforms, the MTBF software has been further developed, but with the clear view that budget preparation should migrate to PIFRA as soon as this is feasible. With this objective in mind, the MTBF Steering Committee has agreed that a pilot of PIFRA should be run side by side with the use of FMA during the 2008/09 budget preparation cycle in one line ministry
