  MTBF Overview
The Medium Term Budgetary Framework is an approach to budgeting that integrates policy-making, planning and budgeting within a medium-term framework.

The Ministry of Finance is implementing the MTBF to strengthen the annual budget process and make it more responsive to the Government's strategic objectives.

The Cabinet in its meeting held on 21st January, 2009 approved the adoption of MTBF across the Federal Government including the provision for the issuance of indicative budget ceilings for the recurrent budget for 2009-10.

Federal ministries will prepare their annual current budget for 2009/10 and forward estimates for 2010/11 and 2011/12 within indicative budget ceilings provided by Finance Division at the start of the budget preparation process.
